Theme : Convocation / Graduation

HELLO! So I attended a convocation last Sunday. It took place at Segi University, Kota Damansara. Convocations are meant to be happy events, as you can see the smile on everyone's face, either the graduates themselves or their family members and friends. I felt happy too by looking at the smile on each and everyone's face. Some of them were nervous too. And of course, never forget to bring a bouquet of flowers along! It was really an unforgettable memory. Let me share some of the photos that I've taken at the university :)

In the process of growing up

Hello humans! Glad to see you all here again. So, it's the third week of holiday. How am I doing during the hols? Many of you asked. Well, not many, just a few I guess. *mutters* It doesn't matter anyway, hehehe. The point is, my life is still the same, there are no changes. Holidays seem to be boring to everyone, except kids, the word 'holiday' is always music to their ears. I shall blog a long post today, I'm not going post much pictures except words. That's right, words. Seems like I'm going to write an essay out of it. Lolol.

Although it's holiday, I can still sense that time passes really fast. It's already the third week of holiday! I can't deny it, the older we get, the more we will start to understand things. For example, while we're still kids, we don't and we won't understand how difficult it is to earn money. But for now, I've finally understand that earning money isn't an easy job. You've to work from day till night just to earn a living every single day. And working isn't fun, unless you're really passionate about it.

Yup, refer to my post's title, it's called in the process of growing up. I'm going to write about little things that I've realize in my life as I grow. In the process of growing up, we learn about different things. There's bad and good. It depends on lots of aspects like mental, physical, friends & family and surroundings. If you're mixing with the right peers, congratulations, you are absolutely doing the right thing. But if you're not, I'm sorry, I've nothing else to say. Family is also important in a child's growth. The love that our parents or siblings give will never get to replace the love that others give. Your way of thinking determines the level of maturity and the level of understanding things. Physical, which means your appearance plays an important role too, it shows what kind of person you are.

Life is short to be unhappy, let's live life to the fullest. Easier to be said than done. But if you try to think at the positive side, it isn't as hard as what you thought. You are the one who has the ability to change your mood. Whether to be happy or not, it's all up to you. As what I've mention in my previous post, negativity kills. Yes, it's true. I've been negative once and I could say, it feels terrible to think negatively. Try to give yourself more confidence and always think good.

Things are getting tougher and tougher as you grow. Challenges are always there for you. All you will need to do is to face it with a calm mind. I may not be calm sometimes but what I've learnt is to be patient. You have to be patient in everything you do. Next, tolerance is also important in life. You will have to be tolerant with things whether you like it or not. And finally, put a smile on your face. Everyone looks fabulous with just a smile. :D

Cheers. :D

China Vimeos

I've read a few different times that vimeo.com is a much more "artist-friendly" video sharing website than YouTube. I assume that has to do with revenue sharing and the legal protections the video site provides. I know that I've found Vimeo videos to be uniformly excellent.

Below are a few China Vimeo videos that friends either sent to me or I found through Bill Bishop's Sinocism newsletter. They're all worth a view.

The first is a beautiful big-city time-lapse video montage from three of the largest cities in China - Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Shanghai (h/t to my friend, Donnie):

Guangzhou'2012/CHINA from zweizwei |motion timelapse| on Vimeo.

The second is surreal skateboarding in the empty ghost town of Ordos (h/t to @niubi, aka Bill Bishop):

ORDOS from Charles Lanceplaine on Vimeo.

The third is a quick two minute clip of the making of Crocs-like shoes (h/t to my friend, Timo):

Factory Video from Native Shoes on Vimeo.

And the fourth is a video about environmental activism in Yunnan Province from Jonah Kessel (h/t to @niubi, aka Bill Bishop):

HOPEFUL from Jonah Kessel on Vimeo.

Please feel free to send me any great China short videos you find on the internet. Especially if they're hipster Vimeo videos.

Hello again guys! So I'm here again for another short update. Oh, of course I'm here for an update or else what I can do here? Silly me. Haha. Okay, I'm not good at jokes so I hope you wouldn't blame me for that. I may be funny in real life (if you know me well) but I'm not good at writing jokes. So yeah. I have the sudden urge to blog today, I don't know what brings me here perhaps pictures and a little bit of inspirations. Mm yeah. I'm feeling happy now and that's a good thing for me as I've understood the importance of being positive and happy. It helps to reduce stress and makes you feel better. So everyone, what I'm trying to say here is, be positive in your life and stop being negative all the time, negativity kills.

As usual, Sundays are our family day so I went to Midvalley with the family again, yesterday. What I've found out is, most of the Sundays we'll either visit Midvalley or One Utama. I know most of the families go for shopping at the malls but for us, we're different. We don't go for shopping, we usually love to go for food and beverages like cafes and restaurants. Who doesn't love food, right? Haha. Right, so we had our dinner at Chili's yesterday, for a change.

After dinner, we went to Aeon. Along the way, we saw the decorations for the Deepavali festival. It was beautiful. Especially the kolam. It was decorated with different types of colours of rice, amazing.

Beautiful, isn't it?

Before I end my post, I would like to share something here. It's just about the people nowadays. If you've followed me on twitter, you should have already seen my tweet about this topic. In those days, I remember seeing couples being sweet and close with each other in shopping malls or restaurants. But nowadays, all that I could see is just couples using their smartphones, tablets and etc instead of doing what normal couples usually do. Yea. I'm not just focusing on couples. I mean, people nowadays rarely communicate with each other anymore. They prefer to contact or to communicate with everyone through social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Skype and so on. To me, why don't we chat/talk more with our family members or friends while we still have the chance to do so? Communication between people is very important. We should try to have more face-to-face type of conversations with the people around us. If you know what I am trying to mean here.

So, I've come to the end of the post. And not forgetting to wish everyone,

Happy Deepavali !

Say Hello To November!

IMG_5820
"Black star, black star, forever you will be." Lyrics from the song, Black Star by Avril Lavigne.

Hello readers! The month of October has passed and it's November already by now. Speaking of holidays, it's just all the same, there is nothing different and special. I've been sick for the past few days. What I did the most is just sleeping. Trust me, it was not really a great way to start off my holidays. Well, I don't really have a lot of things to say but since it's the month of November, so basically I'll just blog something ordinary. I'm not a person who talks a lot about his/her life or about all the activities that I've done throughout the month or throughout the week or whatever. I don't have to elaborate that much.

So, October has been a great month to us. It was the month that we all sat for our PMR examinations. It was also a great month, to me as I had spent a lot of my time with the precious ones. Come to think of it, PMR wasn't as bad as we thought after all. But when it comes to results, I couldn't guarantee that it will be wonderful. But anyways, let's hope for something good to happen. Let's keep that positive thinking in our minds. ;)

I forgot when was it taken. Probably about two weeks ago. Went to Sunway Pyramid and tried ice skating, I've to say that it wasn't easy to skate on ice as it's really slippery.

Let me post a random picture of me when I was small. It was taken in Disneyland, Japan.

Recently, I tried different types of make up looks and it turned out to be fine. I did it just for fun and I don't have any intentions for that. I've tried the doll look make up, punk make up and smokey plus punk type of make up. Some of the looks are inspired by Avril Lavigne, I love all of her make up looks. I've used lots of eye shadow and eyeliner. I learnt those make up tips, steps and tricks from videos in Youtube. You can search for different make up tutorials in Youtube anytime you like. It's fun to learn on how to apply make up on your face.

This is how it looked like.

Happy holidays and I hope each and every one of you will enjoy your holidays. :)

1978 National Geographic - China's Incredible Find

Qian and I went to an estate sale in our neighborhood yesterday. Qian saw an old box full of National Geographic magazines on sale for $5.00 and began thumbing through them. Once she saw the third issue in the pile, she called me over.

This is what she saw:

Knowing how big of a China nerd I am, she guessed correctly that this vintage account of China's terra cotta warrior discovery is something I'd want.

The terra cotta warriors were discovered an hour east of Xi'an in 1974. This 1978 National Geographic account highlights the initial progress that the Chinese were making with the discovery and gives the basic history of the warriors. It's a very interesting read. It's definitely worth the $.50 we paid for it.

I spent a few minutes this morning scanning all twenty pages of the story. My scans aren't that great and I'm not sure the best way to display these images on the confined spaces of this blog. I put together a collage of the story below anyways. I think they're worth posting as is:
