School Trip : Aquaria, KLCC.

         
On Friday (19/10/2012), it was the second day of our trip. We went to Aquaria, KLCC on that day. It's my 3rd or 4th time there, I can't remember exactly how many times I've been there before. I like this trip, it was way better than the first trip. Tham was my bodyguard of the day, lolol. Javier was with us too. I'll continue with the pictures.

We reached KLCC at about 11 AM. We waited outside Aquaria for a short while and soon we went in. Everyone was excited. Guess some of you are familiar with these pictures, because I once posted these pictures in my blog, it was one of this year's January's posts.

Then, we entered the 90 meter transparent underwater tunnel, which is known as the Oceanarium. I've got to say, most cameras don't work perfectly under dark conditions. If you know what I mean.

Later, Tham, Javier and I went outside of the Oceanarium and see how the divers feed the fish in the tank at 12 PM. It was interesting.

After that, we visited the little aquariums along the way and exited the Aquaria.

Finally, we went back to school by bus.

So that's how we ended our trip. We're looking forward to the next and final trip! I shall stop right here, take care!

School Trip : Craft Complex, KL.

   
Hello people, I am here today to blog about the school trip that I went yesterday with the classmates and schoolmates. It was the first day of our school trip. So, we went to the craft complex (kompleks kraf as in BM). It is located around Jalan Conlay which is near to Pavilion and Prince hotel. Oh, I love going around Kuala Lumpur, it is a very interesting city. I have to say, the trip was fine, but it was kind of boring. I guess most of the craft or art lovers would definitely love this place, but not me. It is a place full with traditional handmade crafts or art. Let's proceed with the pictures.

And of course, we went there by bus.

Next, we were guided on how to create stuffs made out of clay. 

Each and everyone of us were given some clay.

A glue made out of clay by mixing both water and clay together. We were given some brushes too.

So, HEY GUYS! I'm finally back to this little space. I made some changes in my blog too. This time, my blog's new look is inspired by Avril Lavigne's Smile video. I know it has nothing to do with videos but it's about the colours and design. It isn't that eye catching anymore, I know. I'm kind of obsessed with Avril lately, especially her music and her videos. Anyway, we are now FREE! PMR is finally over! Our hard work had finally paid off. It's time to take some time off and relax ourselves. I can still remember what our hopes/wishes were before we face the PMR exam.

Yup, those were the things that we used to say/talk about. Now you can do anything you want without any limits. Hahaha. Take care and see you guys soon!

Lust, Caution

I randomly found the 2007 movie Lust, Caution directed by Ang Lee while browsing Netflix a few weeks ago. I'd never heard of it before. I saw a couple Chinese people on the cover, looked up the Chinese title on IMDB - Se, jie (色，戒), and then asked my wife what she knew about it.

Qian said that she'd heard that it was a really risque film and that the lead actress in it had been banned from Chinese media for three years because of it. I noticed that the film had an NC-17 rating (meaning that no children would be allowed to see it in theaters, even if accompanied by an adult) as Qian was mentioning that.

Hearing about the controversy surrounding the movie and seeing its explicit rating were more than enough incentive for us to give the movie a chance.



Lust, Caution takes place in late-1930's, early-1940's Shanghai and Hong Kong (it's in Chinese subtitled in English on Netflix). It's ostensibly about a group of Communist party insurgents who are trying to assassinate a Chinese man who's working closely with the occupying Japanese invaders. The main thrust of the movie, though, is about the passionate relationship between one of the young ideologues, the beautiful Mrs. Mai played by Tang Wei, and the Chinese traitor/Japanese sympathizer, Mr. Yee played by Tony Leung.

The movie has a very slow pace. Early parts of the movie are dominated by catty discussions between high-society women playing ma jiang and drinking tea. I can see how one would be turned off by the glacial speed that the movie begins with. I wasn't bothered by the slow beginning, though. I really enjoyed taking in the portrayal of bygone Shanghai and Hong Kong. I'm not sure how "realistic" the scenes at the ma jiang table, markets, stores, cafes really are, but they were quite romantic and cosmopolitan and really nice scenery for the movie.

After an hour-and-a-half or so (the movie is two-and-a-half-hours-long), things really begin heating up between the main couple, Mrs. Mai and Mr. Yee. Mr. Yee is married and about thirty years Mrs. Mai's senior. Being a powerful, politically-connected man, Mr. Yee has the capability to arrange places where he and Mrs. Mai can romp around. And romp around they do.

The most memorable scenes of this movie are most certainly the duo's sexual escapades. Very little is left to the imagination during these minutes-long performances. The two engage in a wide variety of different sexual positions. It's almost as if a Daoist sex manual is being demonstrated for the viewer. It's hot stuff!

The passion between the two and the forbidden relationship that they develop become the main focus of the movie. Mrs. Mai began the affair with him so that she could set him up and ultimately kill him. But this plan gets complicated as she falls in love with him.

Lust, Caution is most famous for its incredibly explicit sex scenes. The movie is more than just those lustful scenes, though. I appreciated the movie on a few different levels. The two main characters put on quite an acting performance. There are a number of complicated relationships and plot lines too; it's well-written. And the disturbing ending is a good pay-off for the time that the viewer has invested into watching this film.

Qian and I enjoyed this film a lot. I recommend it.

One final comment on the movie: Mr. Yee, played by the famous Hong Kong actor Tony Leung, looks so much like President Obama in this movie. It's uncanny.

DIY Phone Cover!

     

Hello people! I'm still having my holidays now and I made a new phone cover for my phone today. Sounds fun eh. I've been searching for some really cool covers for my xperia x8 but I couldn't search them anywhere so I came out with an idea, I'll make my own phone cover! Hehe, so I've made myself an Union Jack cover for my phone. It's really easy and fun to make. I felt really happy with my creation. :D

Wanna know how I made my own cover? These are the steps I've taken in order to make one. :D

Pencil, eraser and a ruler.

I used an old phone cover and two sharpie markers too.

First, sketch your drawing on the empty phone cover.

Then, I used a bit of cellophane tape to cover the sides to prevent them from being coloured.

Start colouring your handphone cover!

Let it dry for a few minutes.

There, I've made myself a new handphone cover! :D

Although it isn't as new as the ones that you bought from the outside but hey, making your own phone cover wasn't that bad too! So, I'll stop right here and see you again in a next few weeks time!

Additional tips! : You can use a clear nail polish or varnish to apply on the surface of your diy phone case to prevent the ink of the marker pens from smudging. But this will cause the colour of the marker pens on your diy phone case to change. No biggie! I've come across to some kind of spray (comes in aerosol cans) that can be sprayed on surfaces like plastic to protect the top layer of the item, which you can get it from the hardware store. You might consider to use that one instead but it'll definitely cost a lot (this method isn't recommended by me). You can also use some decorative crystal stickers (of your choice) to beautify your diy phone case. :D
